Hardcore Henry

Posted on Apr 27, 2016

Hardcore Henry, a sci-fi action adventure filmed entirely from the perspective of the hero, puts the viewer into the action in a way that makes you feel as though you are the protagonist, and things are happening to you.

You’ve been resurrected from the dead. Your past has been erased from your mind. Your body has been destroyed, and your limbs have been replaced. You’re some sort of half-human, half-robotic hybrid, and you just woke up in an airborne Moscow laboratory to discover all this. Then five minutes later, after a woman named Estelle (Haley Bennett) informs you she’s your wife, a group of mercenaries storms the lab, kills a bunch of people, and kidnaps Estelle. What the heck is going on? And what are you supposed to do about it? Oh, and by the way, although your new limbs can do some serious damage, you have no voice, because Estelle was kidnapped before she had a chance to activate it.

A British guy named Jimmy (Sharito Copley) tells you that Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), a powerful warlord, is behind your wife’s abduction. Although Jimmy is quickly killed, he keeps reappearing in different guises. And you end up on a bloody rampage through an unfamiliar city to try to save your wife (assuming she really is your wife) from a psychopath who wants to destroy the world. What’s going on? Who knows! If you can survive the insanity and solve the mystery, you just might get some answers!

Hardcore Henry was released into theaters on April 8, 2016 by STX Entertainment. Directed by Ilya Naishuller, Hardcore Henry also stars Andrey Dementiev, Dasha Charusa, Sveta Ustinova. Interestingly, the role of the main character, Henry, was performed by more than 10 different cameramen and stuntmen.
