Jane Got a Gun

Posted on Jan 27, 2016

Jane Got a Gun is a western with a twist: the protagonist is a woman, Jane Hammond (Natalie Portman), who has to defend her home and family against a group of outlaws.

As it turns out, this isn’t the first time that Jane has gone up against the ultra-violent Bishop Boys gang. But after being tormented by these outlaws in the past, Jane has now built a new life with her ex-criminal husband Bill Hammond (Noah Emmerich) and their daughter. Then Bill gets into a duel with the Bishop Boys and comes home riddled with bullets. With the gang descending on them, Jane has to do something to defend her loved ones. Desperate, she turns for help to the last person she wants to see: Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton), her former fiancé. Dan teaches Jane marksmanship. But will it make a difference in this battle for survival?

Jane Got a Gun was directed by Gavin O’Connor from a screenplay by Brian Duffield, Anthony Tambakis and Joel Edgerton. The film was produced by Handsomecharlie Films, Scott Pictures, Boise Schiller Film Group, and Straight Up Films, and filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Jane Got a Gun is scheduled to be released into theaters on January 29, 2016 by the Weinstein Company. Also stars Ewan McGregor as Colin McCann, the Bishop Boys’ relentless mastermind.
