The Trust

Posted on Mar 30, 2016

The Trust illustrates the well-known fact that sometimes cops go bad. This includes police officers working extremely dull administrative jobs in the evidence room of the Las Vegas Police Department, such as Waters (Elijah Wood) and Stone (Nicolas Cage). While in the past Waters and Stone had confined their law-breaking activities to selling stolen Civil Service Exams to other officers, they’re about to take things to a whole new level – with very serious consequences.

After Stone hears about a heroine dealer who was able to post $200,000 bail in a very suspiciously fast manner, he persuades Waters to help him figure out where the cash came from. The two undertake some very diligent detective work and discover the existence of a custom bank-style vault built into the back room freezer of a small grocery store. Their plan: break into the vault and steal whatever is inside. By the time their carefully calculated plans go awry, it’s much too late for them to turn back.

The Trust was directed by Alex Brewer and Ben Brewer from a screenplay by Ben Brewer and Adam Hirsch. This American crime film is scheduled to be released by Saban Films on DirectTV on April 14, 2016 before being released on video on demand and in theaters on May 13, 2016. Also starring Sky Ferreira and Jerry Lewis.
