Nate (Rourke) is a down-and-out jazz trumpeter, burdened by a life filled with missteps and fleeting ambitions. Beaten and left for dead in the vast desert by a hired thug (Chuck Liddell), Nate’s final moments are consumed by regret, as he faces the imminent end of his troubled life.
Yet, in the midst of despair, destiny offers Nate a final, surreal chance at salvation. A mysterious band of desert warriors intervenes, pulling him from the brink of death and catapulting him into a world where fantasy and reality entwine. From this moment, Nate embarks on a journey toward redemption—his fate now resting on a delicate thread of hope.
In his wanderings, Nate stumbles upon a traveling circus led by the enigmatic Sam Adanamo (Ifans), where he encounters Lily Lustre (Fox), a striking and ethereal performer—a bird-like woman with wings who captivates his imagination and heart. Their connection is immediate and profound, but Nate’s haunted past soon threatens to unravel the bond they share.
Desperate to escape the debts of his former life, Nate turns to the ruthless Happy Shannon (Murray), hoping to trade Lily’s freedom for his own salvation. But this act of betrayal plunges him further into darkness. Only with the aid of a loyal but damaged friend (Lynch), a stripper battling her own demons, can Nate find the strength to fight for redemption.
As his past catches up with him, Nate must choose whether to reclaim his soul or lose everything he has left in this poetic, otherworldly fable of second chances and the redemptive power of love.
